Music WorkshopsThe Song and Chant workshop - a Basic History (2 hours)Castalia will present a synopsis of the history of pagan music as we know it, using guitar, cassettes and CDs. This music will include chants as well as classic pagan songs. In the first hour, Castalia will present a range of music representing a long history of pagan music as well as some great new pagan music. In the in the second hour, participants may volunteer a song or chant to share or request one from the notes provided. There is enough music to keep us going for hours. Participants will receive chant notes and a book of pagan songs. Basic Song and Chant to Learn and Share (2 hours)Castalia will present chants, new and old, as well as classic pagan songs. The first hour, Castalia will present and the in the second hour, participants either volunteer a song or chant to share or request one from the notes provided. Participants will receive notes on chants and essential pagan songs. Song and chant writing workshop (1.5 hours)In this workshop Castalia will outline various processes of developing songs and chants from ideas or to fit specific situations. Participants should bring pencil and paper and a surface to write on. Participants may bring melodies that require words, or words that require melodies. Participants may be partnered or put in small groups to brainstorm and develop particular chants and songs. The end result will be a selection of new songs and chants that will be meaningful to the participants. Participants may bring along their instruments to assist in the song and chant writing process. |
